Andrew Macdonald has been creating works of art in wood and alabaster for more than 15 years. His lathe-turned alabaster vessels have been featured in juried museum shows. He now designs and builds unique hand crafted lamps and furniture that showcase both the stunning translucence of alabaster and the beauty of wood.

Alabaster is a natural stone that comes in colors ranging from red and peach to gray and white. Andrew uses stone quarried near Fort Collins, Colorado. Naturally occurring minerals give each stone distinct coloring and figure.

The pieces displayed here illustrate Andrew's most recent styles of lamps and furniture. Andrew consults with each client about the creations they envision; working from pictures provided by clients and from his own sketches, he ensures that each lamp and article of furniture has the unique design elements the client desires. He creates showcase pieces designed for whatever setting you have in mind: dining room hutches with illuminated alabaster panels, console and coffee tables with illuminated alabaster tops, table lamps, wall sconces and more.

Andrew combines traditional joinery techniques with elements that are hand-turned on a lathe. The wood and stone are individually polished with multiple coats of hand-rubbed varnish. Andrew uses the highest quality materials and construction techniques to ensure generations a treasured heirloom.
